Self Reflection Assessment
In
looking back at my first attempt at a multimodal presentation for this class, I
think there are several things that I can improve upon and other areas that
were just right. I think my typeface
choice was very readable and attractive and I put a great deal of thought into
text color in contrast to background images.
I know my presentation could be improved with the inclusion of some
statistics and other data to support my subject. My use of images contributed content
primarily to my presentation, which helped illustrate the concept, but also
acted to confuse viewers in some respects.
I need to clarify my subject more clearly and outline my goals for the
viewer. The overall point of my
presentation was trying to convey why I personally choose to paint water as a
subject, not using “watercolor” paint. I
thought my use of images would help differentiate the two points, but there was
still some confusion about my intention.
The text limitation made it difficult for me to establish my intent
clearly, so I need to revisit my word choice, arrangement, and use of visuals
in time. This is a good opportunity for
me to take another crack at it. Art
sometimes is difficult to describe in words alone, so I feel my visuals
definitely help my presentation – none require removal, just perhaps a
restructuring. I think all of my images
were sized appropriately for my needs.
The visual aspects of my presentation are more obvious and I believe my
color choices are appropriate for my audience and overall purpose. The whole presentation is directed towards my
emotional response to water and how it motivates me through my painting
processes. I believe the main element I
require is content clarification and a more organized flow of thoughts. These adjustments should improve my
presentation drastically.
What interesting tidbit did you learn from the presentation?
ReplyDeleteI am not much of an artist but I loved to water color as a kid. The tidbit I learned was it contains variety. As a kid I didn’t pay much attention to the different colors and how they never were quite the same after I added more water.
What image best supported your understanding of, or interest level in, the information?
I think the next slide where you say water is required. You can’t water paint without the water and it adds the variation in the color to with how much or little you add.
Were there any combination of image and words that caused confusion or could have been combined differently to improve understanding?
I felt at times I was confused with if the slide was about water or water color. I think you were talking about both but I got lost a bit with what I was supposed to take away from the slide.
Great presentation and I loved your choice of pictures.
What interesting tidbit did you learn?
ReplyDeleteMy nephew is an art teacher and I always wondered how he chose subjects to paint. I had never paid attention to how many forms of water and the different ways an artist can capture something as simple as water.
What image best supported understanding/interest of information?
I liked the slide that said "it helps me remember the past" and the skill set required to paint water. The detail in the slides are beautiful and look like photographs instead of paintings. The 'reflective' slide also caught my attention and made me think that I also just stare into water.
Were there any combination of images/words that caused confusion or could have been combined differently?
I thought it was fantastic. I can tell by the pictures that you are passionate about what you paint. You did such a creative presentation!
